3 teens arrested fleeing Rockville juvenile facility

Three teenagers have been taken back into custody after fleeing from a Montgomery County detention center on Sunday evening.

The teens, two of whom are 15 years old, the other, 17 years old, left the Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center, in Rockville, around 7 PM

Capt. Paul Starks, of the Montgomery County police said, “Officers set up a perimeter around Key West and Great Seneca Highway.

During the search, police used K-9 units and had help from a Maryland State Police helicopter.

Starks said, “Two of the juveniles were located in a field off Muddy Branch Road and were taken into custody without incident,”.

A bus driver helped to find the third escapee.  Starks said, “We gave the description of the juveniles to our Ride On bus system” . The teen jumped on a Ride On bus to get to his home in Gaithersburg, while the bus driver called the police after noticing he matched the description that had been given out. Officers went to the teen’s home, off Lost Knife Drive, and captured him. Starks said, “They went to that location and found him there and it was over”.

Maryland Juvenile Services said that the center has been secured and they are investigating the incident.
