Howard County has extended the access to Main Street in Ellicott City for displaced residents, businesses and property owners to clean up debris.
Displaced residents, business and property owners will be allowed inside their properties for a cleanup on Monday from noon to 7:30 PM
Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman who walked along Main Street on Sunday and talked with building owners, merchants and residents, said, “This was the day we’ve been waiting for since six days ago. It was a great, great day. But business owners tell me that while they made good progress, they need more time in their buildings.”
Residents and property owners would start the credentialing process at 8 AM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Trips to Main Street will begin from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at noon, and all participants will be taken by bus to the location. Residents and owners to be credentialed should be prepared to show ID. Credentialing will end at 5 PM
After Monday, access to Main Street will be curtailed through Friday to allow for an extended, uninterrupted evaluation of the Main Street public infrastructure. Kittleman said, that there is a hope to reopen access to residents, merchants and business owners in next weekend. This closure will give county engineers an opportunity to assess progress made since the flood and a chance to conduct more detailed evaluations of the area
